आखिरी वक़्त में जयललिता के साथ थीं शशिकला:

सूत्रों द्वारा बाद में यह भी बात सामने आयी कि शशिकला, जयललिता को मारकर अपने पति नटराजन को सत्ता दिलाना चाहती थीं। जब इस बात का खुलासा हुआ तब जयललिता ने शशिकला और उसके परिवार को अपने घर एवं पार्टी से निकाल दिया। हालांकि शशिकला दोस्त थीं, इसलिए जयललिता ने कोई केस नहीं किया। बताया जाता है कि इस घटना के 3 महीने बाद शशिकला और उसके परिवार ने जयललिता से माफ़ी माँग ली थी, जिसके बाद जयललिता ने उन्हें माफ़ कर दिया था। इसके बाद शशिकला के पास वह ताकत नहीं रह गयी, लेकिन वह जयललिता की ख़ास तब भी थीं। आखिरी समय में हॉस्पिटल में जयललिता के साथ कुछ गिने चुने लोगों के साथ शशिकला भी थीं।
